In the role of Maintenance Supervisor best practices and company standards must be followed for maximum efficiency across the full range of services to be delivered. Previous experience supervising and delivering multiple trade services in a commercial or residential environment to high standards in the property sector is required. Relevant technical skills and experience, the ability to be self-driven with a strong customer service ethic will be crucial in this role.
General Duties:
- Carrying out routine maintenance and repairs to buildings and other structures, including tasks such as plumbing, plastering, painting and decorating, carpentry, tiling.
- Assessing work requirements to create material lists for ordering, delivery and collection.
- Working with other team members and external contractors to complete larger projects and repairs such as Kitchen and bathroom fitting.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and compliance.
- Supervise a team of multi-skilled engineers, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality output.
- Responding to emergency repairs and urgent maintenance requests during normal working hours and as part of the on-call out-of-hours rota.
- Maintaining accurate records of work completed, including reports, photographs, and receipts.
- Working from drawings and specifications to undertake maintenance activities.
- Ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Keeping work areas safe, clean, and tidy, and storing tools and materials correctly.
- Providing excellent customer service to residents and clients, responding to their queries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
The ideal candidate for this role should have a strong foundation in multiple trades, be able to work independently and as part of a team and have excellent communication and customer service skills. They should also be able to work safely and efficiently and be committed to maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer satisfaction.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Trade qualification: NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent, or proven time-served experience
- SMSTS certification (or equivalent).
- IT Skills: Comfortable using IT systems to record work progress
- Technical knowledge: Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance principles and practices
- Problem-solving: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Communication: Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Driver’s license: Valid driver’s license as company vehicle provided
- DBS check: Commitment to undertaking a DBS check
- Attention to detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Health and safety: Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and procedures
- Building regulations: Knowledge of building regulations and standards
Working Hours:
- 08:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday.
- 32 days holiday, 21 bookable, 3 reserved for Christmas shutdown & 8 statutory Bank Holidays
- Out of hours on call rota
